Telephoto Lenses

Filed under: Brady Whealon Photography — Brady Whealon @ 4:39 pm

Squirrel: Shot with a 70-200 with 2x converter.I just received my 2x teleconverter in the mail yesterday and I had a good chance to test it out with my zoom lens. I am overall pretty happy with the results. It sure is nice to have a little bit more reach on the end of my camera. I managed to get some photographs of smaller birds and even a cardinal.

I haven’t tested it enough to know if there is too much quality loss yet but using the lens on cloudy days has its limits. I was pushing high iso’s and I couldn’t even stop down my lens at all. I hope to find the sweet spot this Friday when the sun comes out again. In the mean time here is my favorite image from yesterday.

  1. I bought a telephoto lens for my digital camera with an F/8 stop, my question is. My camera is looking for the apature F/ stops, when I take a shot at 400mm the picture is fine, when I zoom way out to 1600mm its so dark you cant see any thing. Do these zoom telephoto lens come with only one F/ stop for an apature???
I need some information on this subject.
    Thanks

    Roger
