Winona State Soccer Hosts Central Regional Tournament
The WSU Womens soccer team ended up losing to No. 6 Seed Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday of this week. The game was 0-0 for the first two halves and the first two regulation overtimes as well. Regulation shootout was tied for the first 4 rounds as well until the warriors missed and Nebraska-Omaha advanced to the third round of the tournament.
In case you had not heard this year I was hired as the athletics photographer for Winona State University. So far this year I have covered events such as soccer, football, indoor volleyball and rugby. I am really looking forward to attending more softball, gymnastics and basketball now that the seasons are starting again. As I have the chance my portfolios online will be updated. I am trying to make sure that I keep updating content so people will stop back. As always I appreciate the support! Feel free to comment as well.
All I can say is: you make Winona sports look spectacular. Keep up the great work!

A crisp clean shot where the action is perfectly frozen. Good composition and ball placement. The faces look good too, unlike so many sports photos.

I like the color management of the photo. Well light management.
Which camera used for this photo?

Hey Arun,
The lighting that day was amazing! It seemed like the clouds would never go away but a few times that day the sun peaked out and really lit up the field.
I usually always shoot in RAW format to allow for maximum flexibility later on but I don’t believe it is needed unless you are doing work commercially.
I shot this photo with a Canon 1d mkII and the 70-200 2.8L IS USM. The only problem I have with this setup is that anything farther than half a field away is way to far to even try to shoot. I am looking at getting another lens but I cant really justify the cost for the one I really want.
After I am done shooting I import the photos to Adobe Lightroom for color management and editing. Thankfully My new monitor is calibrated very well otherwise my photos would not pop quite as well. But my biggest piece of advice is to get it right in camera. Even RAW files are only so forgiving when it comes to white balance and exposure.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks for the feedback!
